FAQs
-
After years of doing full-time and freelance work I've noticed that a lot of time and energy gets spent on the preparation to do the work. This slows things down significantly.
With a subscription, once you sign up we can begin working on your first project the next day. Onboarding is simple and within a week you're already seeing value for the money you've spent.
Subscriptions also remove the guesswork of "how much will this cost me?" Upfront pricing saves time negotiating and in the end you get more value more quickly.
-
There are good reasons to hire someone full-time, however it's not always the most cost effective solution.
Ziprecruiter states that the average salary for a Sr. level marketing designer is $106,000. Once you add in benefits and taxes you're lookig at close to $138,000/year. In comparison, the subscription only costs you $35,988 AND you can write it off as an expense.
-
A request is one design project, for example: a single label design, a set of related social media assets, a presentation, several blog images. You can add an unlimited number of requests to your backlog. But only one can be the active project we’re working on at a time.
-
Whenever a new request is moved into the active state, you’ll have designs to review within 2 business days.
There's no rubric on how big or small a request has to be. That said, for a larger request, it’s likely that your first update would be a more bite-sized deliverable. It may just take a few updates and feedback cycles until the request would be marked as “done.”
For small iterations on feedback, we often turn those around quicker than 2 days.
-
We'll use a suite of digital tools to communicate. Trello, Figma, and video chat being the main three. If you're curious to learn more, check out the how-to guide below.
Two things we won’t do much of (if at all) email or meet. Both of these types of communication are work in themselves and we’re trying to stay as efficient as possible.
-
You'll have complete control of your active requests and backlog using Trello.
Need to switch priority from one project to another? That's not a problem just swap out what the active request is and we'll adjust.
-
Predominately Figma and the Adobe Creative Suite.
Having worked with many companies, I do recognize that Canva and the Google Suite are used regularly for the ease of non-designers. I can port any designs over to those tools as well.
-
Unfortunately once a subscription charges for a month we cannot offer refunds. However, you're always welcome to cancel if you aren't receiving the value you expected.
-
That's why we have unlimited revisions! We'll work together to get it right so that you're pleased with the end result.
-
Not every business has design work to fill up an entire month. Perhaps you only have one or two design requests at the moment. That's where pausing your subscription comes in.
Billing cycles are based on 31 day periods. If sign up and use the service for 21 days, and then decide to pause your subscription. This means that the billing cycle will be paused and you'll have 10 days of service remaining to be used anytime in the future.
-
You can check it out at dadsigner.substack.com
You'll find regular short writings as well as a podcast highlighting other dad's that are designers.

It's a mashup of 2 words, 'dad' and 'designer'.
Yea it's kitchy, but the URL was available and it's somewhat memorable. So let's just go with it!
